ONE SPRING DAY

One Spring Day (2012)

'The West is also the East of the East.'
Poet-monk Simeon from Mount Athos

After repeatedly witnessing the so-called 'Spring Revolutions', I took a long stroll through the streets of New York in spring 2012.
As a candid flâneur or 'botanist' of the urban landscape, I attempted to visualise the relationship between the cultural capital of the Western world and the turbulent 'New East', drawing on my Mediterranean background.
